Tornado Warning Issued in Yavapai County

A Tornado Warning in Yavapai County

On Saturday, a storm capable of producing a tornado was spotted 25 miles south of Camp Verde. Here’s the latest update:

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff issued a tornado warning for a storm moving over Yavapai County on Saturday.

The NWS detected rotation in a thunderstorm that could produce a tornado and quarter-sized hail at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday.

Although the warning expired at 7:45 p.m., large hail and damaging winds are still possible. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in place for the area.

The storm was located about 12 miles southwest of Childs Power Plant and 25 miles south of Camp Verde, moving northwest at 10 miles per hour.

The NWS cautions residents to be wary of flying debris as mobile homes could suffer damage. They anticipate damage to roofs, windows, homes, and trees in the affected area.
