Tragic Kayaking Accident at Dogtown Lake in Williams
Williams, Arizona – A kayaking trip turned tragic at Dogtown Lake in Williams when a male kayaker went under the water after his kayak capsized. First responders, including Williams Police Department, Williams Fire Department, Lifeline Ambulance, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, and Coconino County Search and Rescue Team, are all working diligently to recover the man’s body.
The incident occurred on Friday morning, following a 911 call reporting the capsized kayak. Eyewitnesses recounted a sudden gust of wind causing the kayak to flip over. Despite heroic attempts to rescue the kayaker, he vanished beneath the water’s surface before help could reach him.
Efforts to locate the man’s body have been ongoing, with the man’s identity to be revealed once next of kin have been notified. The search was postponed until morning, with Maricopa County Search and Rescue deploying a specialized dive team and underwater robot to aid in the recovery operation.
