A small plane crashed into a yard in Cottonwood Sunday morning, leaving the pilot hospitalized but in stable condition, according to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
The plane crashed into a residential area on Spur Drive, sheriff’s office officials confirmed. Fortunately, no one else was on board the plane and no one on the ground was injured.
Authorities reported damage to a detached carport and the plane, but the home itself was not struck.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown, with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board handling the investigation.
The pilot’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.
