Saturday night’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks was one for the record books. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman kicked things off with consecutive home runs, marking the first time in the Dodgers’ 141-year history that this feat has been accomplished.

Ohtani led the charge with his 44th home run of the season, a powerful 420-foot shot to dead center off Diamondbacks’ starter Merrill Kelly. Betts followed with his 14th of the season, and Freeman made it three in a row with his 19th of the season, a massive 437-foot blast to right-center field. This trio of superstars had never homered consecutively before, making it a historic moment for the Dodgers.

The game was not short of excitement, as Corbin Carroll also hit an inside-the-park leadoff home run for the Diamondbacks, adding to the offensive fireworks.

The drama continued throughout the game, with Tommy Edman delivering a clutch two-run single in the ninth inning to seal an 8-6 victory for the Dodgers. It was a memorable night that showcased the talent and resilience of both teams.

After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised his players, saying, “We got good players.” Among them was Ben Casparius, who made his major league debut and pitched a scoreless eighth inning to help secure the win.

Overall, it was a thrilling game that left fans on the edge of their seats until the final out. The Dodgers’ historic display of power hitting combined with the Diamondbacks’ determined effort made for a memorable evening of baseball.

The two teams will face off again in the next game, with the Dodgers hoping to carry their momentum forward and the Diamondbacks looking to bounce back from the tough loss.

TRAINER’S ROOM

In injury news, the Dodgers placed LHP Clayton Kershaw on the 15-day injured list and reliever Joe Kelly on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation. To fill their roster spots, the Dodgers recalled right-handers Brent Honeywell and Ben Casparius from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Meanwhile, Tyler Glasnow expressed optimism about returning to the Dodgers’ rotation before the end of the season.

NEXT

Looking ahead, the Dodgers will send LHP Justin Wrobleski to the mound against Diamondbacks RHP Brandon Pfaadt in the upcoming game. It promises to be another exciting matchup between these two competitive teams.
