The Arizona Diamondbacks Keep Their Postseason Hopes Alive
After a dominant performance against the Padres, the Arizona Diamondbacks are holding onto hope for a spot in the postseason. A two-run homer by Ketel Marte in the fourth inning led the team to an 11-2 victory on Sunday, wrapping up the regular season with a record of 89-73.
With their fate hanging in the balance, the Desert Team will now anxiously await the results of Monday’s doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets, both with an 88-72 record. If either team sweeps the series, the Diamondbacks will secure a postseason berth. However, if the Braves and Mets split the games, Arizona will be out of contention.
The possible outcomes are as follows:
- Atlanta: If the Braves win, they will claim the fifth spot.
- New York: A single win secures the sixth spot, while two wins move them to fifth.
- Arizona: The Diamondbacks can only secure the sixth spot if Atlanta or New York win both games.
The team will be training at Chase Field on Monday, closely monitoring the results of the pivotal matchups. Should they advance to the postseason, they will head to Milwaukee for a rematch of their 2023 National League Wild Card game.
Stay tuned to see if the Arizona Diamondbacks can defy the odds and continue their journey towards the championship.
