There have been false claims circulating online that Vice President Kamala Harris has adopted the Nazi phrase “Strength Through Joy” as her campaign slogan. This misinformation has been spreading on social media platforms, with some posts suggesting a connection between Harris and Nazi ideology.
One post in particular on X suggests that Kamala’s messaging draws inspiration from the Nazis, while another on Facebook shares a screenshot from a Wikipedia page linking “Strength Through Joy” to Nazi propaganda.
A concerned reader, Melissa, even reached out to us, asking about the validity of the claim. She directed us to an Instagram post urging people to search for the alleged slogan used by Harris.
Is “Strength Through Joy” the Harris campaign slogan?
Contrary to the false claims circulating online, “Strength Through Joy” is not the official slogan for the Harris campaign. In our investigation, we found no evidence of Harris using this phrase during her campaign events, on her website, or on social media.
While Harris has incorporated the word “joy” into her messaging, her campaign slogans include “Let’s Win This,” “We’re not going back,” and “When we fight, we win.” It’s important to note that there is no credible source reporting any connection between Harris and Nazi Germany, and the claims shared on social media lack legitimacy.
Historically, “Strength Through Joy” was a real program introduced by the Nazis to control German society and promote support for their regime. This program aimed to enhance the quality of life for workers and build public endorsement for the Nazi party.
