Deputy Shoots Dog in Gila County Amid Attack

A shocking dog attack incident unfolded in Gila County when two dogs began attacking a man as deputies were approaching him about an incident involving disorderly conduct. The sheriff’s office had to take quick action to control the situation.

On Sept. 10, around 12:45 p.m., deputies responded to reports of an assault in Claypool and found a possible suspect in a neighboring driveway. As the deputies approached the subject, two dogs burst through a screen door and began biting the man’s arms and legs, forcing him into the doorway where the dogs continued to attack.

To protect the man, the deputies fired one shot at the aggressive dog. The injured suspect was then taken to the hospital and later cited for disorderly conduct related to the initial incident. Unfortunately, the dog involved in the attack had to be euthanized by animal control.
