Detroit Lions Secure Victory Over Arizona Cardinals
The Detroit Lions showcased a stellar defensive performance, keeping the Arizona Cardinals out of the end zone in the second half, to secure a 20-13 victory. Jared Goff delivered two touchdown passes, while David Montgomery rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, contributing to the Lions’ triumph.
In a game filled with momentum swings, the Lions continued their recent dominance over the Cardinals, improving to a record of 5-0-1 against them since 2017. Detroit’s defense stood strong, holding Kyler Murray and the Cardinals to just one field goal in the second half.
Highlighting his exceptional performance, Goff completed his first 14 passes before an incompletion in the third quarter. Demonstrating poise and precision, he finished the game 18 of 23 for 196 yards. The Lions seized a 20-7 lead just before halftime, executing a well-planned hook-and-ladder play that resulted in a touchdown by Jahmyr Gibbs.
Despite a late surge from the Cardinals with a field goal by Matt Prater, the Lions maintained their lead and ran out the clock to secure the victory. Murray finished with 205 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Harrison caught five passes for 64 yards.
Injuries
Lions: S Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) and CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (hamstring) were among the inactives, with LB Derrick Barnes leaving the game in the first half due to a knee injury. TE Sam LaPorta also dealt with an ankle issue during the game.
Cardinals: Starting RT Kelvin Beachum was out with a hamstring injury, and DL Justin Jones left early in the second half due to a triceps issue.
