Welcome President Donald Trump to the Border in Arizona
The sheriff of Arizona has a message for Former President Donald Trump ahead of his visit to the border in Cochise County. Sheriff Mark Dannels wants to focus on public safety, not politics, during Trump’s visit as he addresses the realities of law enforcement at the border.
Trump is scheduled to visit the border in Cochise County at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday before his rally in Glendale on Friday. Sheriff Dannels and his department are ready to show Trump the challenges, realities, and successes of border policing in their county.
In the last 32 months, Cochise County has booked 3,762 individuals for border crimes, costing $12.5 million. Sheriff Dannels believes that shedding light on these issues is crucial, and he sees Trump’s visit as an opportunity to discuss what is working and what needs improvement.
Despite the political nature of border discussions, Sheriff Dannels emphasizes the importance of public safety above all else. He hopes that Trump will gain a better understanding of the struggles faced by law enforcement at the border, focusing on protecting the people of Arizona and ensuring their quality of life.
In addition to extending an invitation to Vice President Harris, Sheriff Dannels has also invited the Harris campaign to visit the border. While he has not heard back from the campaign yet, Sheriff Dannels remains hopeful that they will take up the offer to see firsthand the work being done in Cochise County.
