Breaking News: Nicholas Murphy, a former volunteer football coach at Desert Mountain High School, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a crime involving a minor.
Murphy’s sentencing took place in Nebraska last week, where he confessed to enticing a teenager to travel from Omaha to Tucson for a sexual act. This led to his indictment in 2023 and termination of volunteer services with a freshman football team by the Scottsdale Unified School District.
Despite having a background in football, having played at Arizona State University and a brief stint in the NFL, Murphy will now serve additional 10 years of supervision upon his release from prison and pay over $20,000 in fines.
