The Heat is On: Phoenix to Experience Extreme High Temperatures
A strong high-pressure system is set to dominate the region over the next few days, resulting in a rapid increase in temperatures that will soar well above normal by the weekend. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit, especially in the lower desert areas, and will persist through the rest of the week.
An extreme heat advisory has been issued for the Phoenix metropolitan area from Wednesday to Friday. Dry air will remain stagnant in the area this week, with clear or mostly clear skies expected throughout the week.
This week, record-breaking temperatures are making a comeback in the valley. Daily highs are projected to be surpassed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The latest we have seen temperatures above 110 degrees was on September 19, 2010. If temperatures reach 110 on Thursday and Friday, we will set another heat record this year.
