Tragedy Strikes as Missing Hiker Found Dead near Lost Dutchman State Park
Heartbreak struck the Arizona hiking community as 52-year-old Kristopher Childers, who went missing on Saturday morning, was found dead near Lost Dutchman State Park on Sunday morning. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this tragic news.
Reports indicate that Childers was reported as a possible overdue hiker on Saturday evening after his last communication around 11 a.m. that day. Rescue efforts were immediately launched with the assistance of PCSO, DPS, and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, both by air and ground, and continued into the next morning.
Tragically, Childers was discovered lifeless shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 8. The Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office is now investigating the cause of his untimely death.
