On Saturday night, the Seattle Storm put on a spectacular performance, defeating the Phoenix Mercury with a score of 90-66. Jewell Loyd led the Storm with 20 points, while Jordan Horston added 16 points on an impressive 7-of-8 shooting. Skylar Diggins-Smith also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists, and Nneka Ogwumike contributed 10 points and eight rebounds for Seattle.

Horston’s performance was particularly noteworthy, as she made a crucial hook shot in the second quarter that gave the Storm the lead for good. This sparked a 17-4 run, with Horston scoring seven more points and Diggins-Smith and Sami Whitcomb hitting key 3-pointers in a surge that extended Seattle’s lead to 36-23. By halftime, the Storm held a commanding 15-point lead over the Mercury.

Seattle’s sharpshooting was on full display, as they made 12 3-pointers, with three each coming from Whitcomb, Diggins-Smith, and Loyd. Additionally, the team had just six turnovers throughout the game, showcasing their efficiency and control.

Diana Taurasi led the Phoenix Mercury with 18 points, followed by Kahleah Copper with 11 points. Despite their efforts, Phoenix was unable to overcome Seattle’s dominant performance.

With this win, the Seattle Storm are now just 1 1/2 games behind Las Vegas for the No. 4 seed, while Phoenix is 1 1/2 games behind Indiana for the sixth seed.
