Rescue Operation: Missing Hiker Found in Gold Canyon
A 60-year-old hiker set out on a solo adventure in Gold Canyon on Monday morning, but when she failed to return, a search operation was quickly launched.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office reported that the woman had embarked on the Cloudview trail in Gold Canyon at 5 a.m. Her car was discovered parked near the trailhead, sparking concerns for her safety.
After an intense search effort, the missing hiker was located on Tuesday and promptly transported to a hospital. She had sustained heat-related and fall-related injuries during her time in the wilderness.
Sheriff Mark Lamb commended the Search and Rescue teams, along with DPS Ranger, for their swift response, stating, “Had the victim spent any more time in the desert, we may not have had this positive outcome.”
