Improving Safety on State Route 347: ADOT’s Proposals
Maricopa, Arizona is set to see some major changes in the coming months as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) gears up to present three proposals aimed at improving safety on State Route 347. This vital route that connects Maricopa to south Chandler has unfortunately been the site of numerous deadly crashes over the years, prompting residents to push for much-needed improvements.
A recent ADOT study highlighted “capacity constraints” as a major factor contributing to the traffic congestion and high number of collisions along the corridor. Between 2017 and 2022, a staggering 950 crashes were reported on the stretch of SR-347 between I-10 and Maricopa, underscoring the urgent need for change.
ADOT has meticulously selected three proposed projects to enhance traffic flow along SR-347, each aimed at making the roadway safer for all users. This important announcement will be made at a public meeting to be held at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center on Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the meeting and share their thoughts and feedback on the proposed projects. Additionally, comments can be submitted online here or by calling 855-712-8530.
Let’s come together as a community to shape the future of State Route 347 and ensure a safer, more efficient roadway for all.
