As the 35th season of Arizona’s No. 1 high school football show, Friday Night Fever, kicks off, let’s take a look at the exciting changes that have taken place in the world of high school football in Arizona. With a 15-week marathon ahead, teams are gearing up to compete for the 2024 Open Division championship and other titles in the various school divisions.
The 2024 offseason saw a significant shuffle in head coaching positions across the state, with 70 changes reported by the AZHSFB Coaches Carousel account. Among the notable moves was Chandler Hovik, who left Central High School in Phoenix to take over as the head coach at his alma mater, Cesar Chavez.
Hovik expressed his excitement about leading the Champions and the positive energy surrounding the program as they gear up for a new season. Other coaching changes included Ty Detmer moving to ALA-Gilbert North, Travis Dixon taking over at Hamilton High School, Jake McSpadden joining Desert Vista, and Henri MacArthur leading the Desert Edge Scorpions.
