Welcome Back Monsoon! Time to Cool Down this Weekend
Get ready, Phoenix! Monsoon is making a comeback this weekend, and it’s not just bringing relief from the scorching heat – it’s also set to turn down the temperatures.
Friday is a 12News Weather Impact Alert day, with an excessive heat warning in place through Saturday night. Phoenix is expected to challenge the record high of 116 degrees set in 2020.
While monsoon storm chances on Friday will mainly target higher terrain, the Valley should remain alert for evening stray storms, gusty winds, and dust. As we head into the weekend, storm chances will increase statewide and may spill into early next week.
By Sunday, high temperatures will drop out of the excessive heat criteria, but they will still be above average with added mugginess.
