Restoring the Memorial: A Mission for Cassie and 101 Others

It all started with a group of women visiting the Arizona Capitol to pay their respects to their friend Cassie Parker, who tragically lost her life to domestic violence. What they found was not just the marker for Cassie, but 101 markers and a bench memorializing all the children who fell victim to this senseless crime.

It was a heartbreaking moment for Veronica Gonzalez and her friends when they couldn’t locate Cassie’s marker due to it being worn out and hard to read. Cassie, only 13 years old when she was fatally shot by her stepfather in 1998, deserved better.

Gonzalez took it upon herself to restore not just Cassie’s marker but all 101 of them. She reached out to Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) and coordinated with the Capitol to make this mission a reality.

With a GoFundMe campaign in place, Gonzalez aims to raise funds for the restoration of the markers and the bench at the memorial. Her love for Cassie and dedication to honoring her memory is unwavering.

Cassie’s friends remember her as a bright soul with dreams of becoming a doctor. Her untimely death at the hands of her stepfather sent shockwaves through their community.

Despite the pain and loss, Cassie’s friends have come together to be her voice. They’ve championed her cause and ensured that her memory will never fade. Their mission now extends beyond Cassie to include all the children who lost their lives to domestic violence.

You too can be a part of this mission by contributing to their GoFundMe. Every donation brings them one step closer to restoring these markers and keeping the memory of these innocent children alive.
