Woman Caught Smuggling Bologna and Prescription Drugs into Texas
In a bizarre smuggling attempt, a 43-year-old woman was caught trying to sneak a massive amount of bologna and prescription drugs into Texas. The incident took place at the Presidio port of entry, located about 100 miles west of Big Bend National Park.
Initially, the woman only declared a cooked meal during her primary inspection. However, officers became suspicious when they noticed her suitcases were unusually heavy. Upon further inspection, they discovered 40 rolls of Mexican bologna weighing a total of 748 pounds hidden in her luggage. Additionally, 280 boxes of undeclared prescription medications, including drugs like Tramadol, Alprazolam, Clonazapam, and Diazapam, were found stashed inside various panels of her SUV.
Aside from the contraband, officers also uncovered over $7,600 in cash hidden in the vehicle. The woman was slapped with a $1,000 civil penalty for the smuggling attempt, and the confiscated bologna was destroyed.
This bizarre smuggling incident serves as a reminder of the creative lengths people will go to in their attempts to deceive border patrol authorities. It also highlights the vigilance and dedication of officers in ensuring the safety and security of our borders.
