The Impact of Cyber Ninjas on Voting Machines in Maricopa County
There has been a growing concern surrounding the safety of voting machines in Maricopa County after the controversial involvement of Cyber Ninjas in the 2020 election audit. Viewer Kristin Bolick raised an important question about the potential risks posed by Cyber Ninjas to the integrity of the voting machines.
Our sources, the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office and the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, shed some light on the situation. Cyber Ninjas, a company contracted by Arizona Senate Republicans to conduct the audit, lacked the necessary experience and qualifications for such a critical task.
During the audit, Senate Republicans compelled the county to hand over their voting equipment to Cyber Ninjas. This action raised concerns about the security of the machines, which are typically highly guarded and protected. As a result, then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs recommended replacing the machines to prevent any potential damage or manipulation.
The county had to invest $2.8 million in purchasing new voting machines, as a precautionary measure to ensure the upcoming elections are not compromised. Therefore, we can verify that the actions of Cyber Ninjas did not have a direct impact on the voting machines currently in use.
