Former President Donald Trump’s recent campaign visit to Montana sparked rumors and controversy surrounding the plane he used for travel. While his personal plane had to undergo unexpected maintenance in Billings, Montana, Trump used a different private jet for his campaign events on Aug. 9 and Aug. 10.

Social media posts with millions of views falsely claimed that the plane Trump used was previously owned by the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and even went as far as suggesting it was the infamous “Lolita Express.” However, these claims are unfounded.

The Truth Behind the Plane

It’s true that Donald Trump’s campaign utilized a private plane that was once owned by Jeffrey Epstein. The Gulfstream G550 jet, which Trump used during his Rocky Mountain campaign tour, was previously owned by Epstein.

While the serial number on the plane confirmed its connection to Epstein, it is important to note that this is not the same aircraft known as the “Lolita Express.” That specific Boeing 727 plane, allegedly used by Epstein for illicit activities, has been destroyed and hasn’t flown since 2016.

Trump’s campaign, unaware of the plane’s previous owner, used it as a temporary substitute for his usual Boeing 757. The charter jet vendor, Private Jet Services Group, provided the Gulfstream for Trump’s campaign travel across multiple states.

Despite the false claims circulating on social media, it is evident that while Trump did use a plane once owned by Epstein, it was not the notorious “Lolita Express.” The campaign has since expressed intentions to avoid using that specific plane in the future.
