Stitch the Tortoise, a resident of the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch in Pinal County, found himself in an unusual predicament when he was spotted trying to cross the road on eastbound Interstate 10 at Picacho Peak. Fortunately, the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded promptly to a 911 call from a concerned motorist and safely returned Stitch back to his habitat.

With the “Stitch” label on his shell, troopers were able to identify him and reach out to the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch, located just three miles away. Ranch staff confirmed that Stitch had recently escaped from his habitat, but thankfully, he was unharmed during his little adventure away from home.
