TEMPE, Ariz. — A routine traffic stop took a dangerous turn in Tempe, Arizona as the driver attempted to flee, resulting in a crash and one person in custody, as reported by the Tempe Police Department.
According to authorities, officers attempted to pull over a car in the area of Baseline Road and Hardy Drive on Monday evening. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated, leading to a brief chase.
Fortunately, officers did not pursue the fleeing car but were able to locate it shortly after it crashed into another vehicle not far from the initial traffic stop.
