Attempted Traffic Stop Ends in Crash – One in Custody

TEMPE, Ariz. — A routine traffic stop took a dangerous turn in Tempe, Arizona as the driver attempted to flee, resulting in a crash and one person in custody, as reported by the Tempe Police Department.

According to authorities, officers attempted to pull over a car in the area of Baseline Road and Hardy Drive on Monday evening. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated, leading to a brief chase.

Fortunately, officers did not pursue the fleeing car but were able to locate it shortly after it crashed into another vehicle not far from the initial traffic stop.

Both drivers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and are receiving medical attention, police confirmed.

The aftermath of the crash led to the closure of Hardy Drive, with estimates suggesting it will reopen within the next 30 minutes.
