The Boys and Girls Club of the Valley: Teaching Kids to Cope with Emotions
Emotional well-being is crucial for children, especially in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world. The Boys and Girls Club of the Valley is stepping up to help kids like 11-year-old Madelyn McCabe learn how to handle their emotions in a healthy way.
Madelyn used to struggle with processing her feelings, often leading to outbursts of anger and hyperactivity. However, through the Club’s wellness programs, in partnership with Terros Health, she is now equipped with tools to navigate her emotions effectively.
Madelyn’s mother, Jamie McCabe, noticed a significant difference in her daughter when she was away from the program. The structured activities and guidance provided by Wellness Coaches like Tajia Diggs have been instrumental in helping Madelyn cope with her emotions at home and school.
The Club Kids wellness programs include activities such as breathing exercises, art projects, and games, all aimed at helping children understand and manage their emotions. These tools are designed to equip kids with lifelong coping mechanisms that they can carry into various aspects of their lives.
Madelyn spoke highly of the program, acknowledging that it has been crucial in helping her deal with overwhelming emotions. Her mother echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of the support and guidance provided by the Boys and Girls Club of the Valley.
