The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association Fundraiser Honoring Fallen Officer Zane Coolidge
As the Phoenix community grieves the loss of Police Officer Zane Coolidge, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association is stepping up to support his family by organizing a special fundraiser.
The fundraiser, a barbeque event, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 1102 W. Adams Street in Phoenix, with all proceeds going directly to Officer Coolidge’s family. Officer Coolidge tragically passed away, leaving behind a wife and a five-month-old baby girl.
The event will commence at 11 a.m. and continue until 9 p.m., allowing community members to show their support for the fallen officer’s family.
Officer Coolidge lost his life on Sept. 6 after sustaining a gunshot wound while responding to a car break-in on Sept. 3. At just 29 years old, Coolidge, a five-year veteran of the department, was not only an officer but also a father, a husband, a brother, and a son.
Luckily, Officer Matthew Haney, who was also shot during the incident, survived. Haney’s ballistic vest potentially saved his life, although the exact circumstances are still under investigation.
Saul Bal, the perpetrator of the shooting, is currently facing charges of attempted murder and first-degree murder for his actions.
In addition to supporting Officer Coolidge’s family, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association has provided avenues for community members to donate to both Officer Haney and Officer Coolidge through their respective donation pages.
For more details and how to donate, you can visit the PLEA Charities donation page or the Phoenix Police Foundation donation page.
