Remembering Al McCoy: The Voice of the Phoenix Suns

Al McCoy, the legendary team broadcaster for the Phoenix Suns, passed away at the age of 91. His iconic voice and catchphrase, “Shazam!” will forever be ingrained in the hearts of Suns fans.

McCoy dedicated 51 years to calling Suns basketball games, starting in 1972 until his retirement in 2023. His contribution to the team and the sport is immeasurable.

Before his illustrious career with the Suns, McCoy began his broadcasting journey in 1958 and went on to cover various sports in Arizona, including baseball, hockey, and basketball.
