Massage parlors that had been burglarized were allegedly crossed out on the suspect’s ledger, court documents show.
GLENDALE, Ariz. — A man has been arrested in connection with a string of massage parlor robberies in Peoria earlier this month, police said.
Mitchell Briggs, 23, is accused of breaking into four different businesses all within about five minutes of each other.
Court documents claim that Briggs was in possession of a “ledger” that had the addresses of 65 different massage parlors. Some of those addresses had been crossed out in red ink and a dollar amount written next to them. Police believe the ledger was also color-coded by “difficulty.”
“It should be noted the crossed-out addresses match the addresses of victim businesses in Glendale and other jurisdictions,” those documents stated.
In each of the burglaries, the suspect used a similar method for gaining entry into the massage parlor and would sometimes demand employees to hand over whatever amount of cash they had on-hand.
Glendale police first began to suspect Briggs when his vehicle was allegedly caught on security camera during a break-in on Sept. 8. Traffic camera footage was then used to find the vehicle. Police put a GPS tracker on it the next day.
After the GPS tracker reportedly showed that vehicle at the scene of multiple crimes, police arrested Briggs during a traffic stop on Wednesday. While serving a search warrant at his home, police allegedly found $10,000 in cash, receipts for large bank deposits, three pry bars and the ledger.
Briggs is facing multiple burglary, armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping charges, according to court documents. Peoria police thanked the Glendale Police Department for their help in making the arrest.
The break-ins started on Sept. 5 when Peoria police responded to the first one near 83rd Avenue and Cactus Road after a nearby person called 911 to report suspicious activity.
