Welcome to De Paul Manor: A Place of Hope and Healing
Exciting news from St. Vincent de Paul as the first residents have moved into the newly opened transitional housing facility, De Paul Manor. This 100-bed shelter, located in south Phoenix on Watkins Street, is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for adults over 50, veterans, and adults with disabilities who are working to overcome homelessness.
With one-to-one case management and wraparound support services, residents at De Paul Manor have access to a nurse on site, workforce development assistance, and three meals a day provided just across the street. Jessica Berg, Chief Program Officer at St. Vincent de Paul, sums up the mission perfectly, saying, “Our goal is to welcome everyone with love and help them heal with love.”
One such resident, Christopher Scott, shared his excitement about this new chapter in his life. Overcoming chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, Scott sees De Paul Manor as a stepping stone towards reclaiming his independence. “It kinda feels like a dream right now… I must be a lucky man,” Scott expressed.
Scott is the first of 13 individuals who will be moving into their new homes at De Paul Manor this week. With the dedicated support of case managers, Scott is optimistic about the future. “With these amazing case managers here, I can get some of these things taken care of that I need to… go back to living a normal life,” Scott shared.
De Paul Manor is not just a shelter; it is a place of hope, healing, and new beginnings. The team at St. Vincent de Paul is committed to providing a helping hand and a supportive community for those in need. As more residents settle into their new home, the spirit of resilience and determination shines bright at De Paul Manor.
