Welcome to the Future of Emergency Medical Training!
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is revolutionizing the way medical teams are trained to handle emergencies involving children. The introduction of the Simbulance—a cutting-edge ambulance simulator—has raised the bar for preparing healthcare professionals to provide critical care to our youngest patients.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital has recently unveiled the Simbulance to enhance emergency care across the Valley and facilitate transfers between the hospital’s various satellite services across Arizona.
The Simbulance simulates a wide range of scenarios that emergency medical teams may encounter while caring for children in an ambulance. This innovative training tool is benefiting prehospital providers, transport teams, and pediatric emergency medicine fellows, equipping them with the skills needed to save lives under challenging circumstances.
Featuring lifelike mannequins that replicate various medical emergencies like swollen airways and respiratory distress, the Simbulance allows healthcare providers to practice real-life interventions and reduce the risk of medical errors.
Dr. Julie Augenstein from Phoenix Children’s Hospital affirms the importance of simulation training in healthcare, stating that it creates a safe and realistic environment for providers to hone their skills and ultimately prevent medical errors during actual emergencies.
Kyle Borg of the Glendale Fire Department emphasizes the value of simulation in preparing emergency response teams, enabling them to remain calm and confident in critical situations.
Children in medical emergencies often present unique challenges, with different symptoms and communication styles compared to adults. The Simbulance addresses these complexities by providing advanced training tailored specifically for pediatric cases. Funded through grants and donations, the Simbulance is a game-changer in pediatric emergency care.
Don’t miss the chance to see the Simbulance in action on October 28 at the Renaissance in Glendale, located next to State Farm Stadium.
