Latest Updates on Yavapai County Wildfires

A READY status has been issued for those north of Congress near Ghost Town Road due to the Hillside Fire.

Fire Crews Responding to Multiple Fires

YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — Fire crews are responding to “multiple fires” in Yavapai County, including one burning near the Baghdad Airport, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZDFFM).

“Three engines currently en route along with a state hand crew,” the agency said.

Update on Hillside Fire

Crews are also responding to the Hillside Fire, which is three miles north of Congress, officials with the agency said. The wildfire has burned 818 acres and is 88% contained, as of Friday. All SET status areas have been returned to “READY.”

The wildfire no longer poses a threat to the Congress community, the Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management said in a Facebook post on Friday. All roadblocks in the area will be lifted at 6 p.m.

Wildfire Go-Kit Preparation

Residents in wildfire-prone areas are urged to have an emergency supplies kit in case of evacuation. Ensure you have essentials like water, food, first-aid kit, and important documents ready to go. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends storing emergency supplies in a easily accessible container and lists necessary items.

Essential Items Checklist

  • Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person
  • Battery-powered or hand-cranked radio and a NOAA weather radio
  • Dust mask or cotton T-shirt to filter the air
  • Matches in a waterproof container
  • Complete change of clothing including long pants, long sleeve shirts, and sturdy shoes
  • Signal flare
