Scottsdale High School Put on Lockdown After Hostage Threat

The Scottsdale Police Chief has raised concerns about the increasing number of school threats, labeling them as a potential form of “domestic terrorism.” This comes after Chaparral High School in Scottsdale was put under lockdown following a 911 call reporting a hostage situation in the school’s bathroom.

Thankfully, after a thorough search by police units, no credible threat was found, and no injuries were reported. The school was cleared, and no hostages were discovered. Despite the lack of arrests, Chief Jeff Walther emphasized the seriousness of these incidents, urging federal officials to address the issue nationally.

Recent weeks have seen a surge in social media threats targeting schools in Arizona, prompting a swift response from law enforcement agencies. Chief Walther reiterated that his department will not tolerate such behavior and will pursue criminal charges against anyone responsible for making threats.
