Grand Canyon National Park Tragedy: Missing Boater Found Deceased
A tragic incident has occurred at Grand Canyon National Park, where a 71-year-old man who was reported missing on Monday has been found deceased.
The man was boating on the Colorado River in the Lower Nankoweap Camp area when he went missing, according to National Park Service officials.
Park rangers discovered a body in the river near mile marker 63.5 on Tuesday. Initial reports suggest that the body belongs to the missing boater.
The man’s identity has not been revealed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death by NPS and the medical examiner.
Tragedy has struck Grand Canyon National Park multiple times in recent weeks, with several fatalities reported. Just yesterday, a 59-year-old man from Colorado lost his life on the 10th day of a river trip.
On average, the park records around 10 to 15 deaths per year, as per the Associated Press.
