Rescue Mission: Woman Found After Going Missing While Hiking in Gold Canyon
A 60-year-old woman set out for a hike in Gold Canyon on Monday morning and failed to return.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reported that the hiker who went missing yesterday in Gold Canyon has been located and transported to a hospital today.
The woman had left for her hike around 5 a.m. on Monday, heading to Gold Canyon to explore a trail called Cloudview. When she did not return, PCSO initiated a search after finding her vehicle parked at the trailhead where she started. The hiker had been overdue for some time.
On Tuesday, PCSO confirmed that the woman had been found and taken to a hospital. She had suffered from heat exhaustion and had injuries related to a fall.
“We applaud our search and rescue teams along with officers from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for their support,” said Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb. “If the victim had spent more time in the desert, we may not have had such positive results.”
