Unbelted Motorcycle Thieves Caught in the Act in Phoenix
Imagine trying to steal a motorcycle in broad daylight and realizing you forgot your belt at home. That’s exactly what happened to a pair of would-be motorcycle thieves in Phoenix this week.
Laveen resident Eric Smith shared security footage from his home capturing two men attempting to wrestle his motorcycle into a red Dodge Durango parked outside. One of the suspects, described as white with large tattoos and a missing belt, found himself in a compromising position as he struggled to keep his pants up while moving the bike.
Fortunately, Smith’s wife, Krystal, who was home at the time, noticed the commotion and scared the thieves away by banging on the window. The incident was caught on camera as the hapless thief was seen running back to the getaway vehicle, his pants still falling down.
“She’s the superhero!” Smith jokingly remarked. “We’ve been calling them the butt crack bandits.”
Smith took to Facebook to ask the Phoenix community to be on the lookout for the red Dodge Durango and provided a report number for reference in case of any sightings. The attempted theft occurred in a Laveen neighborhood near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road.
