Payton Sorenson: Chasing Olympic Dreams
Payton Sorenson’s journey to the Olympics is nothing short of inspiring. From his early days in summer rec leagues to competing at the Olympic trials, Sorenson’s passion for swimming has never wavered.
At the age of 30, Sorenson is laser-focused on breaking the 22-second mark in the Men’s 50 Free event. Despite the odds stacked against him, with the average age of Olympic swimmers being 24, Sorenson is determined to defy expectations and make a splash in the pool.
Reflecting on his childhood, Sorenson shared, “My mom would shew us out of the house and put us all in swimming, and then I’ve been doing it through high school and college.” His dedication to the sport has paid off, with numerous wins and accolades throughout his career.
Training with conditioning coach Kristian Thalin, Sorenson is honing his skills and focusing on the finer details that will propel him to the next level. Balancing a full-time job at Diversified Roofing with his training regimen, Sorenson is no stranger to hard work and perseverance.
With his sights set on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, Sorenson is pushing himself to new heights both in and out of the pool. His story is a testament to the power of dedication and passion in pursuing your dreams.
