Recently, a $20,000 bronze statue of a woman was stolen from Mesa’s Mountain View Funeral Home, leaving the community in shock. The cemetery is now offering a reward for any information that could lead to the recovery of the beloved sculpture.
According to reports, the statue was forcibly removed from its granite base on the morning of Sept. 17. Greg Coury, the owner of Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, expressed his devastation over the theft, emphasizing the sentimental value of the unique tribute.
In a heartfelt statement, Coury said, “This wasn’t just a statue; it was a $20,000, one-of-a-kind tribute that held tremendous sentimental value. We are asking for its return, no questions asked.”
The cemetery has reached out to over 50 recyclers in the area, but none have reported receiving the stolen statue. In response to the incident, the cemetery has increased security measures and is urging anyone with information to contact them at 480-832-2850.
