The quiet neighborhood of S Annemarie Drive and West Viking Street in Tucson was shaken by a tragic incident earlier this month. A house fire claimed the life of 53-year-old Shawn Butierez, who succumbed to smoke inhalation, according to authorities.
On the fateful day of September 9, deputies and the Three Points Fire Department rushed to the scene just before 8:15 a.m., responding to the emergency call. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) later revealed that the fire was not started under suspicious circumstances.
The investigation into the fire was diligently carried out by the PCSD Arson Unit and Homicide Unit. Evidence was meticulously gathered, witnesses were interviewed, and the scene was thoroughly processed. The final verdict of Butierez being unable to escape the residence during the incident and ultimately losing his life to smoke inhalation was a heartbreaking revelation.
