Big Lots Closing Over 340 Stores Across the Country
Big Lots recently declared bankruptcy and wasted no time in releasing an updated list of store closures. According to reports, the discount retailer plans to shutter more than 340 locations across the United States as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection filing.
In a filing made on September 11th, the Ohio-based company outlined the closure of 344 stores in 41 states. Along with these closures, the leasing contracts for 296 Big Lots stores were also put up for auction this week.
Earlier this week, the company announced its plans to sell its ongoing business operations and assets to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management.
California tops the list with the most Big Lots stores closing, at 75, followed by Florida (28), Arizona (22), and Texas (16).
