Arizona Gas Prices for Labor Day Weekend
Despite gas prices in Arizona being higher than the national average, the state is still enjoying prices more than 80 cents lower than last year’s Labor Day weekend.
PHOENIX — It’s here, folks: Labor Day weekend is upon us! Whether you’re traveling to spend time with friends and family or planning a staycation for the next two days, chances are you’re going to be driving somewhere.
Gas prices have been declining, but the pace has slowed ahead of Labor Day weekend, according to AAA. Prices at the pump only dipped two cents last week on average.
AAA speculates that this could be due to people taking their final summer trips, but the slow pace could also be influenced by a storm system forming in the Atlantic.
“Since today, 8/29, is my birthday, my wish is that this potential tropical storm fizzles quickly,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “And the arrival of September means cheaper winter-blend gasoline is almost here, which always helps take pressure off pump prices.”
The national average gas price ahead of Labor Day is $3.36, which is 14 cents less than a month ago and 46 cents less than a year ago. In Arizona, the average prices for regular, mid-grade, premium, and diesel are $3.45, $3.76, $4.07, and $3.69, respectively.
While Arizona’s prices are higher than the national average, they are still more than 80 cents lower than last year. Check out the average gas prices for cities and areas across the state to ensure you get the most bang for your buck at the pump. Happy and safe travels, AZ!
