The Impactful Work of Jessica Mooney at Madison Simis Elementary School
Parents are singing praises for Jessica Mooney, a second-grade teacher at Madison Simis Elementary School, who has helped students thrive in her classroom.
A parent of one of Jessica Mooney’s students, Phoenix mom Abra Rummel, reached out to 12News to share the remarkable impact that Mooney had on her son. Despite facing challenges with being on the spectrum and navigating life with ADHD, Mooney’s class became a place where he flourished both socially and academically.
Upon surprising Mooney with the 12 News A+ Teacher award, it was clear how she had transformed Oliver into a diligent and hardworking student who takes pride in his efforts. Oliver expressed, “That was when I made the most friends,” highlighting the supportive environment Mooney had created in her classroom.
Rummel credits Mooney for creating an inclusive space that led to Oliver’s tremendous growth, both academically and socially. She mentioned how Mooney’s belief in Oliver’s potential motivated him to work hard and achieve progress.
The principal of Madison Simis Elementary School, Lindsay Murray, commended Mooney for creating a safe and welcoming environment in her classroom where everyone feels like they belong. Mooney expressed her gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of the connections she builds with her students.
During the surprise visit, Ms. Mooney received an additional surprise – a $500 gift from 12News and American Furniture Warehouse as a token of appreciation for her dedication to her students.
