Judge Rules Laura Owens Filed False Paternity Claim Against ‘Bachelor’ Star
Phoenix – A recent court ruling has shed light on a shocking case involving Laura Owens, who filed a false paternity claim against former “Bachelor” star Clayton Echard. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is now investigating Owens to determine if charges are warranted.
Last year, Owens accused Echard of impregnating her with twins, which he vehemently denied, claiming they never had a sexual relationship. Despite Owens later claiming a miscarriage, a family court judge found her paternity claim to be false and referred the case to the county attorney’s office.
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell stated, “They’re busy gathering information from various sources to thoroughly investigate the matter.” Judge Julie Mata, who presided over the case, highlighted Owens’ repeated pattern of making similar false claims.
Echard revealed that Owens has a history of accusing multiple men of impregnating her, and he believes she should face criminal charges for her actions. Mitchell mentioned that while cases are commonly referred from family court, this case stands out due to its exceptional nature.
In a recent hearing, Owens admitted to altering medical records but maintained the validity of her pregnancy. Her attorney, David Gingras, intends to appeal the judge’s ruling. The investigation into Owens’ actions continues, awaiting a final decision from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
