The Truth Behind Home Inspections: Cy Porter vs. Taylor MorrisonStay Informed with 12News+

In a recent turn of events, popular Valley home inspector Cy Porter found himself at the center of a controversy after sharing videos of his inspections of Taylor Morrison homes. Taylor Morrison, one of the country’s largest home building companies, filed a complaint against Porter, claiming his videos were falsified and violated state standards.

Porter, the face behind CyFy Home Inspections, specializes in inspecting new construction homes in Arizona. His videos have gained popularity for exposing flaws and educating homeowners about their rights under Arizona law.

After a hearing conducted by the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, it was determined that Porter’s videos were truthful and did not violate any regulations. Despite Taylor Morrison’s call for disciplinary action against Porter, the board found no evidence of deception in his videos.

While some board members expressed concern over Porter’s advertising methods, others defended his right to free speech. Ultimately, the board decided not to discipline Porter but issued a letter of concern for unprofessional conduct related to a specific video he posted in March.

Porter defended the controversial video, stating that it was meant to be satirical and not a representation of his home inspection services. In response to the board’s decision, a Taylor Morrison spokesperson emphasized their commitment to building quality homes.
