The Iconic Fedora from “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” Sells for $630,000
LOS ANGELES — The brown felt fedora worn by actor Harrison Ford in the legendary film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” has set hearts racing as it sold for an impressive $630,000 at auction, announced by film and TV memorabilia company Propstore on Friday.
The iconic hat, featured in the 1984 movie, surpassed all expectations as it was estimated to sell for a price between $250,000 and $500,000.
This particular fedora comes from the personal collection of the late stunt performer Dean Ferrandini, who also filled in as Ford’s stunt double for the adventurous archaeologist character, Indiana Jones, known for his fear of snakes.
According to Propstore’s expert, keeping the fedora in place during filming proved to be a challenge, requiring the insertion of foam pieces to ensure a snug fit.
Designed by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London, this fedora is crafted from sable-colored rabbit felt, adding to its unique appeal.
Other notable items sold at the auction include an Imperial scout trooper’s white “biker scout” helmet from “Return of the Jedi” and a ghost costume worn in the 1996 horror film “Scream,” fetching impressive prices.
Aside from Ford’s standout performance, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” also featured Kate Capshaw as nightclub singer Willie Scott and Ke Huy Quan as Short Round, adding to the film’s charm.
