Welcome Back to the Grand Canyon: Hotels Reopen After Water Supply Issue
Exciting news for visitors to the Grand Canyon – hotels located on the south rim will be reopening this week after a disruption in the park’s water supply caused a temporary closure.
Park officials have announced that overnight accommodation will resume on September 5th after the hotels shut down last week.
Reservations are now open for establishments such as Bright Angel Lodge, Maswik Lodge, and Phantom Ranch, so visitors can start planning their stays.
The park will be operating under Stage 3 water restrictions until storage tanks reach the necessary capacity.
Officials reported that the water line supplying water from the canyon for park use had experienced four major breaks since July 8th.
Repairs have been completed, and water is being pumped back without any new pipe ruptures.
While water faucets at Mather and Desert View campsites remain closed, visitors can still access water at the Mather Campground registration kiosk.
Hikers are advised to bring or treat water as needed during their park visit.
In addition, visitors are encouraged to continue practicing water conservation measures, such as taking short showers and selectively flushing toilets.
