Remembering Officer Zane Coolidge: A Hero’s Farewell
On September 3rd, Officer Zane Coolidge was tragically shot in the line of duty while responding to a call about a vehicle break-in. The Phoenix Police Department announced that his funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 18th.
In a statement, the department described Zane as an incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend, as well as a beloved member of the Phoenix Police Department. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
The funeral will be a private event, but it will be available to stream live on the department’s YouTube page. The family has requested that members of the public line the sidewalks during the procession to pay their respects.
The procession, which will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, will include motor officers, family, friends, and Officer Coolidge’s Squad from Mountain View Precinct. It will start at 60th Street and Bell Road and end at Dream City Church at 13613 North Cave Creek Road where the services will be held.
While the funeral will be a solemn occasion, it will also be a time to honor and celebrate Officer Zane Coolidge’s life and service. Traditional customs and courtesies, including the last call, will be given to him at the conclusion of the inside service in the front courtyard of the church.
Officer Coolidge’s sacrifice will forever be remembered. He was shot while bravely responding to a report of a vehicle break-in on September 3rd and passed away on September 6th surrounded by his family. His partner, Officer Matthew Haney, was also injured but is recovering.
