Olympian Freddie Crittenden Inspires Students at Emerson Elementary School
Freddie Crittenden, who works with students in an afterschool program, recently competed in the Men’s 110m Hurdles Final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he finished 6th in the world with a time of 13.32 seconds.
At Emerson Elementary School in Phoenix, where Crittenden has been involved with the students through the G Road afterschool program for three years, the young fans created a vibrant cheering section for their mentor. Dozens of students cheered on Crittenden with chants, handmade signs, and unwavering support throughout his race.
Despite not clinching the top spot, Crittenden remains a champion in the eyes of the students. Fifth-grader Jalyse Woods expressed her admiration, saying, “I was hoping he would win. He didn’t win, but that’s still okay.”
Principal Nicholas Lodato praised Crittenden for his positive impact on the students, emphasizing his unwavering dedication and infectious personality. Crittenden’s participation in the Olympics and his journey to Team USA have served as a source of inspiration for the students.
In a recent interview, Crittenden shared his mantra of “never give up,” which has resonated deeply with the students at Emerson Elementary. Despite the challenges he has faced, including injuries in previous Olympic Trials, Crittenden’s perseverance and determination have shone through.
As a new father, Crittenden’s journey to the Olympics holds special significance, showcasing the power of hard work and dedication in achieving one’s dreams.
