Stray Bullet Hits Food Vendor Selling Elotes in West Phoenix
Raul Domínguez, a 32-year-old food vendor, was just going about his usual business selling elotes when tragedy struck on Sunday. A stray bullet hit him, sending him to the hospital.
According to Phoenix police, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. near Sunridge Park, just West of 62nd Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Raul’s sister, Amalia Domínguez, revealed that the bullet struck her brother in the lung and was fired from a long distance.
Amalia Domínguez shared that authorities informed her that Raul was not the intended target of the bullet, and it was simply a stray shot. Fortunately, neighbors nearby were quick to call an ambulance for him, ultimately saving his life.
Raul Domínguez, now in stable condition, recounted the terrifying experience, mentioning that he felt like he was facing death but fought on for the sake of his daughters. He is the sole provider for his household, consisting of four daughters, three of whom have special needs.
The incident has left the family in a challenging situation, struggling with basic necessities and finances. Phoenix police are currently investigating the case, urging anyone with information to come forward anonymously at 1800-343-TIPS or 480-(TESTIGO).
