The Havasupai Tribe Needs Your Help After Devastating Flash Floods
The Havasupai Reservation recently experienced devastating flash floods that have left a trail of destruction in their wake. The floods have not only impacted access to homes but have also severely affected Supai Village, leading to widespread displacement and damage.
A week after the tragic events, the community is rallying together to support tribal members who have been affected by the storm. According to Mercy Worldwide Arizona, 150 families have been displaced, with an average of four members per family. The floods caused severe damage to 12 homes, cutting off the tribe’s only means of access via foot, horse, or mule.
In response to the crisis, an organization has started collecting donations in Arizona to aid in relief efforts. The Havasupai Tribe itself has issued a statement expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support and offering ways for individuals to contribute to their rebuilding and restoration efforts.
