**Destructive Fire Displaces Dozens in Mesa Apartment Building**
In Mesa, Arizona, firefighters battled a destructive fire that erupted Friday morning near Broadway and Dobson roads, causing significant damage to an apartment building. Thankfully, the building was evacuated, and no injuries have been reported as firefighters work to contain the blaze.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters were forced to evacuate the roof due to flames reaching the building’s attic space. They are now combating the fire from an aerial position, as seen in aerial footage from Sky12 showing severe damage to the building’s roof.
According to fire officials, at least 24 units were involved in the fire, displacing 40 to 50 people. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, Mesa Fire Department plans to conduct an investigation.
Captain Cale Ackerley mentioned, “Potentially, our initial report suggests that smoke and flames were emanating from between two units, indicating a possible electrical issue or ignition within the walls.”
This unfortunate incident is not the first fire at the Central on Broadway complex this year, with a previous fire occurring on May 31st. Gabriela Nava, a resident affected by a prior fire at the location, expressed empathy for those impacted by the current incident, emphasizing the emotional toll of such disasters.
