The Holder Family Cemetery: A Place of Heartbreak and Resilience
The Holder Family Cemetery is meant to be a place of peace and tranquility, where loved ones can be laid to rest and remembered with dignity. However, for Glenda and Brian Holder, the experience at the Brookland Cemetery in Pioneer Village has been anything but peaceful.
After burying their 21-year-old son, Shawn, at Brookland Cemetery last summer, the Holder family found themselves embroiled in a series of disputes with the cemetery staff. From flowers being removed from Shawn’s grave to demands for payment to repair pavement damage, the Holders have faced constant harassment and disrespect from the people who should be providing solace and support during their time of grief.
Despite their efforts to create a meaningful monument for their son, the Holders were met with repeated denials and roadblocks from the cemetery owners. Frustrated and heartbroken, they made the difficult decision to move Shawn’s body to a private cemetery on family land, where they could ensure he would be honored and respected as he deserves.
Now, with the support of their attorney, the Holders are fighting back against the cemetery in court, accusing them of abuse of process, extreme emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and outrageous conduct. While the cemetery denies the allegations and claims they were enforcing their rules, the Holders are determined to seek justice for the mistreatment they have endured.
As the legal battle continues, the Holder family remains resolute in their quest for closure and justice. Their story serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and empathy in times of grief, and the necessity of standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.
No trial date has been set yet, but the Holder family is determined to see this fight through to the end, in honor of their beloved son, Shawn.
